Tara Swanson wins Musicfest Northwest Competition

Tara Swanson, a first-year student at New Saint Andrews College and a piano performance major at the University of Idaho, is the winner of this year's Musicfest Northwest Young Artist Competition in Spokane. It is a three-part competition for college-aged students, and each of the competitors (there were four this year) played a solo piece, sight-read, and performed the same Concerto, the first movement from Rachmaninoff's First Concerto, Opus 1. Medals were awarded in all three categories, but only the winner of the concerto category gets to play with the Spokane Symphony. The Lord blessed Tara and she won in all three categories, so this Wednesday (the 12th) she will be playing at the Met in Spokane, along with the other Young Artist winners (other instrumentalists).  The concert begins at 7:30, and there is no admission charge.  You're invited to attend! Tara is the daughter of Craig and Elizabeth Swanson of Benton City, Washington, and she played piano for worship services at Trinity Reformed Church since January this year. Congratulations Tara! See story on Tara's previous competition below.
