AffiliationsThe College is an independent, non-profit educational trust established by Christ Church, Moscow, a member of the Confederation of Reformed Evangelicals (CRE). The College's Trustees are all members of CRE churches. The College is also a charter member of the Association of Classical & Christian Schools (ACCS). Theological PerspectiveThe College stands in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition of protesting catholics and affirms the great creeds of the Christian church throughout the ages: the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon. The College Board of Trustees, administration, and faculty believe that the reformational confessions of the 16th and 17th centuries, such as the Westminster Confession of Faith of 1646, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort, and Heidelberg Catechism of all historic statements, most fully and faithfully summarize the doctrine revealed in Scripture. Teaching Faculty, 2006-2007The College is blessed with a strong Christian faculty that includes some of the leaders of the classical Christian education revival, such as Senior Fellows Doug Wilson (author of Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning, The Paideia of God, and The Case for Classical Christian Education), Dr. Peter Leithart (author of Heroes of the City of Man, Brightest Heaven of Invention, Ascent to Love, Miniatures and Morals, and more), Dr. Roy Atwood (The Quest for Authentic Higher Learning, with Douglas Wilson), and Douglas Jones and Christopher Schlect (contributors to Repairing the Ruins: The Classical and Christian Challenge to Modern Education). The College faculty includes 15 full- and part-time members, with four or 29% holding the Ph.D. The College has seven senior fellows (two or 40% with Ph.D.s), 6 fellows (two or 20% with Ph.D.s), one visiting fellow and one visiting lecturer. Faculty-Student RatioApproximately 1:11 (11 FTE faculty members to 148 FTE students) DegreesAssociate (2-year program) and Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Culture (4-year program). Tuition, 2006-2007The tuition rate is $7,200 per year, with additional charges ($400-$600) for late tuition deposit and optional payment plan; full-time B.A. students who make an additional $500 deposit toward their senior year can keep tuition fixed at the same rate for four consecutive academic years from initial full-time enrollment. Tuition for 2007-2008 will likely increase over the current rate by between $300 and $500. Room & BoardThe College provides no on-campus housing, but many students board with local Christian families or share apartments with other NSA students. The College expects its students to be mature enough to live independently. Students are responsible for their own housing arrangements. Costs for boarding with local Christian families vary considerably, but typically range from about $300 per month to $400 per month, depending on the living and meal arrangements. Two bedroom apartments typically rent in the $400 per month range, and duplexes and houses go for between $600 per month to $1200 per month. Enrollment, 2006-2007170 students (headcount, both full-and part-time), or 148 full-time equivalent began the academic year. The College admits only a limited number of qualified applicants each year. The College's enrollment target is 50 new full-time matriculating students and a small number of part-time students each year. Unlike enrollment-driven colleges, the faculty defines New Saint Andrews. The College seeks to preserve its academic integrity and spiritual faithfulness over time by maintaining a small community of experienced Christian scholars who invite a limited number of students to join them each year in the study of truth, beauty, and goodness through the classical liberal arts from a reformational Christian worldview. Student Body, 2006-2007Women (57%) and men (43%) from 32 states, Canada, England, France, Ivory Coast, and Iraq. Admission Standards 2006-2007The College seeks applicants who are serious Christian students, committed to sound doctrine, personal holiness, cultural reformation, and academic integrity. The Admissions Committee carefully evaluates an applicant's entire portfolio, weighing each element to understand the student as a whole person. The College seeks students who have a balanced life, combining academic interests, service to the others, involvement in their church and local communities, and appreciation of humor and the arts. Applicants must have successfully completed their secondary education and attained ACT (20+) or SAT (1000+) scores. The College welcomes applications from qualified international students. The College encourages your prayer support and financial contributions, but gifts to New Saint Andrews are not tax deductible.
