Dr. Cole Tutino Joins the Conservatory of Music

Posted on August 19, 2019

New Saint Andrews College is pleased to welcome Dr. Cole Tutino to our Conservatory of Music faculty. He will be teaching freshman and sophomore music theory here beginning this month as well as instructing in cello performance and leading the NSA orchestra. Dr. Tutino received his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance at San Jose State University. Subsequently, he earned his Master of Music and Doctorate of Music in Cello Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he trained under one of the most important cellists of the twentieth century.

Dr. Tutino has played for a litany of symphony orchestras and musical groups across the nation in addition to serving as Visiting Assistant Professor of cello at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and as Visiting Instructor of Cello at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

"It was the sword and shovel that attracted me to New Saint Andrews," Tutino states. He desires to be part of the NSA endeavor to build the kingdom of God, not the kingdom of man; he wants to pour his energy into taking ground for Jesus Christ.  Tutino further states, "When I look back on my time here, I want to say that I have trained up thousands of Christians to love music, to use music to the glory of God, to lead music in their churches and schools, or to make it a part of their family life."  Dr. Tutino is excited to be part of the Conservatory of Music for the 2019-2020 academic year and to share in the college's vision of what music is for: to worship and glorify God.

Dr. Cole Tutino and Dr. Ryan Smith are performing a recital on September 9; admission is free.
