Year-by-year Course Requirements

Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Culture 

Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree must complete each of the following requirements:

1. Pass all Colloquia, or their approved equivalents.
2. Pass twelve terms in language. These twelve terms must include four terms of Latin and eight additional terms of any classical language during which students progress to “readings” level mastery in at least one classical language.
3. Pass thirteen electives.
4. Complete and present a senior thesis of sufficient quality to earn a passing grade.

Requirements for the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Culture 

Candidates for the Associate of Arts degree must complete each of the following requirements:

1. Pass all four terms in each of the following:

  • Lordship
  • Classical Rhetoric
  • Music
  • Classical Culture and History
  • Natural History

2. Pass eight terms in classical language. Four terms must be in Latin or an approved equivalent. Testing into intermediate or advanced Latin courses, or their equivalent, does not reduce the number of required terms in that language.

3. Pass four electives.
