The New Saint Andrews Collection

Study at New Saint Andrews concentrates on certain central texts. Because we emphasize a careful reading and study of what might be called, in a general cultural sense, "canonical texts," our students have the opportunity to acquire a good number of great books they will cherish long after their time of study at New Saint Andrews is done. But any ongoing study or research in the liberal arts done at the College requires library and learning resources specific to our academic mission and curriculum.

Our library focuses on the Western tradition, with concentrations in classics, history, literature, philosophy, languages, aesthetics, and Christian theology. As an institution dedicated to classical and Christian higher education—and the love of great books—the library is one of the College’s most important and valued resources. Tyndale Library provides a comfortable environment of about 4,000 square feet of carpeted study area, with private carels and computers with internet and email access available to our students.

The Tyndale Library holds approximately 56,000 volumes in its collection.

The library's special collections include several rare works such as a 1777 leather-bound edition of the complete works of Athanasius published in both Greek and Latin, a beautifully illuminated Book of Hours dating from the Middle Ages, and more. In addition, the library has an assortment of popular and academic periodicals, and numerous sets of noteworthy lectures and sermons on audiotape.

Tyndale Library Memberships

The College is pleased to make its Tyndale Library resources available to non-student members of the community through a paid membership program. The rate ranges from $35 for an individual 18 and older to $2,500 for a lifetime membership. There are some stipulations on select books and hours to maintain maximum access for the students — such as during the week prior to final exams. For more information about the membership program, contact the College at 882-1566.

Library Tutorial

For an interactive web library tutorial, students are encouraged to use the one created at the University of Texas System called TILT (Texas Information Literacy Tutorial). The University of Texas Libraries online catalog is also available through this link.
