Fellow of Classical Languages, 1997-
John D. Schwandt is a Fellow of Classical Languages at New Saint Andrews and teaches Latin and Greek.
Mr. Schwandt earned his Master of Arts from Westminster Theological Seminary in California in 1997. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho. In addition, he has pursued college-level study in Latin and the philosophy of language, and has traveled to Greece on several occasions to develop and maintain fluency in modern Greek.
Mr. Schwandt is the founder of the Institute of Biblical Greek and creator of the National Biblical Greek Exam, an online examination program. The National Association of Secondary School Principals placed the exam on its National Advisory List of Contests and Activities for 2004-2005.
Mr. Schwandt is the senior editor of a new English-Greek Reverse Interlinear New Testament now available from Crossway Books and Logos Research Systems.
A limited number (yet widely used) Bible software programs will soon have Mr. Schwandt’s voice heard on all of them. Last summer, he recorded all 6,000+ lemas in the in NT. He actually did this twice, once using the Erasmian pronunciation and once with the modern pronunciation. Since then Logos Research Systems (the largest of the Bible software companies) began selling this add-on to their program.

Bibleworks will distribute this function with their base product starting this summer. Gramcord will make their decision in the fall after the Hedricksen/CBD merger settles. Soon all Bible software programs will feature Mr. Schwandt's golden tones as “the voice of Greek.”
Mr. Schwandt lives in Moscow with his wife, Tabithah. They have three sons, John Owen, Samuel Rutherford, and Kaspar Olevianus, born April 22, 2004.
