The College's First Graduates
"For those who remember the early days of the College back in 1994, meeting as it did then in a tiny dining room of a small house with four students, this year's start (marking our 10th anniversary) with almost 140 students seems a bit of a miracle. . . . Probably a good many of you, had you been considering colleges 10 years ago, would have laughed at the prospect of attending a college in the middle-of-nowhere-Idaho, let alone one with only four students and three volunteer faculty members huddled in a borrowed dining room. Most sane people would (and frankly did) laugh in our general direction. And most people accustomed to thinking of university education as an extension of the industrial model of high-volume production, scales of economy, interchangeable parts, assembly-line efficiencies, and glitzy marketing, thought us mad. They were not far from the truth."
