Visiting the College
An Invitation
Please Visit Anytime--but Here Are the Best Times to Come
The College cordially invites prospective students, families, and friends to visit New Saint Andrews any time (within reason, of course). Our regular office hours during the academic year are 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. (summer hours vary so please call before planning visit). If you’d like to visit classes, meet our students, speak to faculty and administrators, and/or schedule a tour, please contact the College’s main office (208-882-1566; info@nsa.edu) in advance so we can make arrangements.
The best time for prospective students to visit the College is Friday through Monday. This allows you to see Friday’s recitations and our Disputatio, to tour Moscow and investigate your housing options on Saturday, to attend Sunday worship services at Christ Church or at any of the several evangelical and orthodox congregations in the Moscow-Pullman area, and to attend lectures on Monday.
The College also hosts Prospective Student Weekends each fall and spring. The fall weekend is usually in October and the spring weekend is usually in March or early-April. Please contact the College office for more information about arranging a visit or attending a Prospective Student Weekend.

Prospective Student Weekends
The College invites prospective students and their families to visit New Saint Andrews during our fall or spring Prospective Student Weekend events, which run all day Friday through all day Monday. We are glad to have visitors anytime, of course, but we have scheduled these special weekend events with the specific purpose of providing prospective students and their parents with an up-close look at the College and what daily life is like in our Christian academic community. Please register online (or write info@nsa.edu) if you would like to visit for this special occasion. The next scheduled dates are:
Winter & Spring Prospective Student Weekends:
February 1 - February 4, 2008
April 4 - April 7, 2008
The Prospective Student Weekends include opportunities to sit in on classes, meet the faculty and students, tour our facilities and the community, attend the local churches, get answers to your questions about attending New Saint Andrews, consider your various housing options, and enjoy some events arranged to introduce you to student life here.
We reserve lodging at some of the local hotels (see list below) for the Prospective Student Weekends. You must mention New Saint Andrews College to get the blocked rooms. Make your reservations early. If you'd rather lodge with a local Christian family or with students, just let us know and we'll help you make those arrangements, too.
To reserve your place at a Prospective Student Weekend, please register online. Your $10 registration fee covers the cost of the weekend's events and activities (additional guests attending the Reformation Banquet in the fall are charged $25 each). Please register two weeks prior to the event so we can make all the necessary arrangements for your arrival. To get more information about the weekends, or to arrange a visit at another time, please contact the Admissions Office at 208-882-1566 or email to info@nsa.edu.

Directions & Transportation
We admit it: we're almost in the middle of nowhere and Moscow isn't exactly the easiest place in the world to get to. But hey, that's part of our charm. New Saint Andrews is located in the heart of the greater metropolitan Moscow area (i.e. downtown) with a burgeoning population of about 20,000, plus or minus a few thousand local university students depending on the direction of the wind and the time of year. Moscow is just far enough off the beaten path in rural north Idaho to be a quiet and pleasant place for students to concentrate on their studies, but close enough to be reasonably accessible by most major transportation links and close to some pretty spectacular scenery and the great outdoors. Moscow is about 80 miles south of Spokane and Coeur d'Alene in the rolling hills of the Palouse country and right on the state's western border with, what President Calvin Coolidge called, the People's Republic of Washington.

By Car
From Coeur d'Alene, ID and Interstate 90 (to the north and east of Moscow), head west through downtown Spokane and turn south on Highway 195 (faster), just west of downtown Spokane. If the weather and road conditions are good, take Highway 95 for a slower, but more scenic route south, starting in downtown Coeur d'Alene and taking approximately 85 miles to Moscow. The Highway 195 route is recommended for night travel or inclement weather. It is wider, more heavily traveled, and the safer of the two routes south. Highway 95 is a rural highway undergoing some major construction and improvements, and its older parts are still quite narrow, curvy, poorly lit and positively dangerous in bad weather, so beware.
From Spokane, WA (and points north and west of Moscow), follow Highway 195 South to Pullman , home of Washington State University, and Highway 270/8 east to Moscow. Pullman and Moscow are just 8 miles apart. Follow the signs east out of Pullman. To get to Highway 195 South from the Spokane International Airport, follow the signs toward Interstate 90 East and downtown Spokane. Highway 195 is the first exit you'll come to once you get on I-90.
From Boise, ID , the state capital, and points south of Moscow, head north on Highway 95 approximately 300 miles. Highway 95 is the most direct, but not exactly the fastest route in the region (unfortunately it's something of a two-lane goat trail in places). Still, it's very scenic and if you've never been to the Pacific Northwest or the Great State of Idaho before and you're not in a big hurry, then this is the ticket. It's also your only choice anyway, without going through Montana or Oregon.
From Seattle, WA (to the west of Moscow), head east on Interstate 90 toward Spokane. The quickest and most direct route is to exit off I-90 just after you cross the Columbia River near Vantage and follow Highway 26 East toward Pullman. At Colfax, Washington, you'll turn south on Highway 195. Then follow the signs south to Pullman (you'll exit left off of Highway 195), through downtown Pullman, and eastward ho to Moscow. If you end up in Lewiston, Idaho, you missed the Pullman turn off on 195. Oops.
From Portland, OR, and points southwest of Moscow, you probably should get directions from Google Maps or MapQuest because the most direct route is fairly complicated and tricky and too long to explain here. The good news is that it doesn't take much longer to get here from Portland than it does Seattle; there are just more twists and turns and potential wrong turns that will lead you to Alaska or Florida.
From Missoula, MT, and points northeast, take Interstate 90 to Highway 195 south (not 95 South, unless you want the scenic, narrow two-lane route) just past downtown Spokane and follow the signs south to Pullman and east to Moscow. For the truly scenic route, take the state highway south from Missoula toward Lolo and head west through Lolo Pass on Highway 12 toward Lewiston, Idaho. This is a spectacular drive (closed in winter; open late spring through early fall only) along more than 150 miles of mountainous terrain following the Clearwater and Lochsa whitewater rivers along the historic Lewis-Clark Trail, the Spalding Mission, and through the Nez Perce Tribe's Reservation. It's a slow drive (avg. 35 m.p.h.) but a wonderful wilderness trek, a journey back in time, and a cultural treat (check out both the Spalding Mission and Nez Perce Museum a few miles east of Lewiston on the south side of the Clearwater River, on Highway 95 South). At Lewiston turn north on Highway 95 to Moscow, about 35 miles.
From Elk River, Bovill, Helmer, Deary, or Troy, Idaho (and points due east of Moscow), just head west, young man, out of the mountains and through the woods on Highway 8. If you end up in Washington State, you've gone too far. If you end up in Montana, you need a new compass or copilot.

By Air
The closest airport to Moscow is the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (PUW). The only airline serving the Moscow-Pullman area is Horizon Air, a regional partner with Northwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines, and all Horizon flights to Moscow originate in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The Moscow University Inn-Best Western has its own airport shuttle that can pick up and deliver at the Moscow airport. Limited car rentals include Ambassador Auto, Moscow, 1-800-422-0297, Budget (Pullman/Moscow Airport), (509) 332-351, and Hertz (Pullman/Moscow Airport), (509) 332-4485, so be sure to book in advance.
The next closest airport is the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport (LWS), 35 miles south of Moscow. Delta Airllines has regular connections through their Salt Lake City hub. Horizon Air links to Lewiston from Seattle, Portland, and Boise. Limited car rentals are available, so be sure to book in advance. For history and outdoor buffs, Lewiston is at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers and is part of the historic Lewis and Clark Trail (Clarkston, WA, Lewiston's sister city, is just across the Snake River). Lewiston is also the gateway to Hell's Canyon and some pretty exciting jet boat rides up the Snake Riven to the deep canyonlands are available for the adventuresome.
The largest airport in the region is the Spokane International Airport (GEG), about 85 miles northwest of Moscow. This airport is served by a number of major airlines, including Delta, Northwest, United, and Southwest. The airport has all the major car rental services. A shuttle service between the Spokane International Airport and Moscow-Pullman (85 miles) is available from Wheatland Express (formerly Link Transportation) on a limited schedule. For more information about price, ticketing, and schedules, see the Wheatland Express website.
A word of caution: The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport is vulnerable to delays and rerouting to Lewiston, ID (35 miles south of Moscow) in the fog and snow season, commonly late fall (November) through winter (often ending by mid-March), negating the anticipated convenience of flying to within six miles of Moscow. Please consider the time of year and weather forecasts before booking flights to the Pullman-Moscow airport between November and March. The Lewiston Airport, 35 miles away, and the Spokane International Airport , 85 miles away, have more carrier options and are more reliable airports for on-time arrivals and departures between November and March.
